Analytics and optimization design applied to investigate water and energy nexus seasonal planning and operations

Date:

Continued economic development often arises from ensuring environmental safeguards and sustainability. In that context, water availability, energy access and security are critical for economic progress. With increased investments in renewable resources, these sectors become more heavily dependent on each other at various spatial and temporal scales with hydro storage (and other forms of energy storage) providing flexibility for accommodating electricity supply variability. This interconnected-ness has yet to be underpinned by adequate modeling and rigorously analyzed as effects of changes in climate poses significant challenges to plan and operate these systems. In this talk we will discuss about analytics and optimization applied to planning and operations in the context of the Water-Energy Nexus.
